Sustainable Village and Learning Community, Luly, Haiti, 2018-2020:The Center for Urban and Community Design worked in collaboration with the State University of New York and co-authored a grant provided by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The “SVLC" was a masterplan and schematic layout for a 40 acre campus with educational buildings, a teaching hospital, a hotel and various incubator spaces dedicated to a variety of vocational trades.Planning work in Haiti began with a series of public engagement and community outreach exercises facilitated and advanced by a cross disciplinary team of architects and engineers, from Haiti and abroad.The community aims to be both environmentally and economically sustainable.Students will be able to focus on a variety of trades, including construction, nursing, hospitality, applied technology, agriculture, and the performing arts.
