Tom Klein, ASLA, WEDG is the Director of the University of Miami’s Center for Urban and Community Design. As a landscape and urban designer, Klein is passionate about crafting public spaces that are ecologically resilient and socially vibrant. Working at the intersection of design, policy, and climate adaptation, Klein is drawn to large-scale projects that integrate human and non-human systems to advance urban resilience. Klein has collaborated on projects that reflect the complex challenges facing cities today, building diverse coalitions and developing new approaches for a wide range of topics that enable the implementation of a more resilient built environment.
Prior to joining the University of Miami, Klein held roles as a Project Manager at SCAPE Landscape Architecture and as the Waterfront Planning & Design Advisor at the Waterfront Alliance. He earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Tam (Tammy) Trinh

Tammy Trinh is a student research assistant at the University of Miami’s Center for Urban and Community Design. Originally from Hanoi, Vietnam, Trinh is passionate about crafting civic environments that foster public health and community identity. Working at the intersection of culture, climate, and environmental intelligence, Trinh is drawn to spatial systems that leverage architecture as social infrastructure. She contributes to the Center by collaborating on community initiatives, developing new design approaches that encourages a more resilient built environment.
Ariana Littlejohn
B.Arch, Spanish Minor

Ariana Littlejohn is a fourth-year Bachelors of Architecture student with a minor in Spanish passionate about creating healthier, more culturally and ecologically specific, and inspiring buildings and public spaces. As a student, she strives to grow her learning beyond the classroom. From experiences working on a farm to the corporate architecture world, Ariana has the drive, skills, and understanding to take lived, local experiences into architectural design. Additionally, with language skills in English, Spanish, and Japanese, Ariana aims to unlock the voices of our communities and amplify their stories and daily lives through design.
